Obituary of Michael D. Jefferson

Michael D. Jefferson, age 52, suddenly passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2008 in Christiana Hospital. Born in Wilmington, he was the son of the late Regina A. Jefferson and George O. Blackiston. Michael was a dedicated state employee. He began his career with the Dept. of Corrections in 1979-1990 and continued his employment with Family Court in 1992 until present. He was to receive recognition for 25 years of service on December 19, 2008 at the New Castle County Court House. He is survived by his wife of 21 1/2 years, Carol; 5 daughters, Michelle (Tyrone) Freeman, Cydney (Edmond) Boddie, Carolissa Holmes, Regina Jefferson and Mikki Poole; 2 sons, Jamall Brooks and Akime Smith; 9 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Olandra Butler and Paula Blackiston-Watters; brother, George Blackiston; 2 aunts, Rita Harmon and Emma Furrowh; 1 uncle, Ashmead Blackiston; mother-in-law, Helen Knoww; 5 brother-in-laws; 2 sister-in-laws; godson, Kendall Ellis; goddaughter, Denise Knott and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, other family members and friends.
