Obituary of Reather Bell Washington
Reather Bell Washington (Granny), departed this life on August 30, 2007 at the age of 91 years old, surrounded by her loved ones. On May 26, 1916, she was born in Randolph county, Georgia to the late James Lawson Barnes and the late Lucy Bell Mitchell. She was a high school graduate. In 1941, she married the late James Wesley McKnight; later on in 1968, she remarried the late Abe Washington. Reather was a homemaker and her favorite things to do were to go to The Salvation Army Senior Center, cooking, playing cards and traveling. She was a member of Greater St. John Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her mother, father, brother, sister, daughter, Lucy McCormick, son, James McKnight, Jr. and Timothy McKnight. She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Walter McKnight; one son-in-law, J.R. Wilson; one daughter, Queen Wilson; one daughter-in-law, Ruth McKnight; seven grandchildren, Belinda Tucker, Paulette Walker, Cheryl Gregory, Walter McKnight, Jr., Alexander McKnight, charles McKnight and Timothy McKnight, Jr.; nine great-grandchildren, nineteen great-great grandchildren; one nephew; two grandnephews and a host of other family members, adopted grandchildren and friends.
