Obituary of Lilton Trader

Lilton Trader, son of the late Marvin and Bertha Trader was born September 25, 1926 and raised in Onancock, VA. Lilton departed this life on August 9, 2007 after a long illness. Lilton received his early education in Onancock, Virginia. He left Onancock at the age of eighteen and moved to Wilmington Delaware. He was employed for several years at the Allied Kid Company. It was there he met Clara Cecilia Taylor. Lilton and Clara were married on December 3, 1945. From this matrimonial union, six children were born, Veda, Litrella, Van (deceased), Aundrea, Lancey (deceased), and Lilton Adette. Lilton left the Allied Kid Company after working for several years. He was then employed as a Lieutenant Officer at the Department of Corrections. When he left the Department of Corrections, he became a custodian within the Brandywine School District. He retired, after fifteen years of service, with noted exceptional performance. Mr.Trader was very active, and enjoyed many sports. He loved the game of table tennis. He coached and mentored a large number of young people within the Kingswood Community Center. He taught them the discipline of sportsmanship and encouraged them to participate in and win numerous state table tennis tournaments. He trained his daughter, Veda Harris, to become the five times Delaware State Women�(TM)s and Mixed Doubles Table Tennis Champion. Lilton Trader was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Odd Fellows Hall and several other social clubs in the city of Wilmington. Mr. Trader is preceded by his children�(TM)s mother and ex-wife, Clara Cecilia Trader, two sons, Van Howard and Lancy Craig, three brothers Clifton Trader, Melvin Trader and Purnell Trader; two sisters Beatrice Ray and Audrey Elzey. He leaves to cherish his memory his surviving six sisters Eloise Marshall, Goldia Rogers, Florine Hawkes, Winnie Chandler, Pastor Gloria Cherry, and Doris Winsley, his surviving children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
