Obituary of Elder Margaret L. Smith
Margaret Louise Goodman-Smith was born on January 13, 1929 in Suffolk Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Alexandra (Alex) & Mattie Goodman. & the Step-daughter of Beatrice (Bea)Goodman. She departed this life peacefully on January 13, 2004 at home. She received her early education in Suffolk, VA. She later moved to Wilmington Delaware, where she continued her education. She graduated from James Grove High School and attended Delaware Technical College. Margaret graduated from the United Christian College of U.H.C. of America with two Bachelor Degree B.R.E. and B.T.H. Corresponded from Lynchburg College. Margaret taught Sunday school for many years beginning at the age of 13. She singed with the Morgan�(TM)s Chorus, Rock of Ages Gospel Chorus and The Dickerson Chorus. Margaret was Superintendent of Sunday school for many years and Superintendent of the Delaware District Sunday school for several years. She was President of the Delaware District Missionary Department. Margaret ushered for many years, she taught Bible classes at Rock of Ages and in the homes of many people. She tutored literacy classes for anyone who needed and wanted to learn to read. Margaret would use these words “I feel indebted to the unlearned to teach them what the Lord has taught me”, for I can do all things through Christ which straighten me. Margaret was saved at an early age and worked diligently in her church, and then the Lord anointed her to preach and teach His Word. “She was a praying woman”, she loved to preach and teach. Margaret was the Superintendent of her church Sunday school and Dean of the “New Life Christian Education Training Center. During the course of her life she worked as Teachers aide at Beechwood School Special Aid, Little Angel�(TM)s Day Care as Chaplin and aide, Northeast State Service as Play Room Instructor for nearly 20 years, she loved children.
