Obituary of Phillip Henry Chapman

Phillip H. Chapman, age 64 departed his life Friday, December 23, 2011. He attended Wilmington High and Jefferson High School in California. He served in the United States Army and also worked for the United States Post Office for a short time as well as worked at Longshoreman. He was preceded in death by his father Hubert Cooper; mother Grace Matthews Chapman, and one sister Marguerite Chapman. He is survived by: six children, Phillip Chapman, Jr., Nicole Riley (Wilmington), Deashya, Damien Hardy Whitney (California) Kristal Chapman f (Pennsylvania) and Ronen Huston (Alabama); six sisters, Salan Chapman Pennwell, Shirley Chapman, Brenda Ringgold, Barbara Chapman Nowdin (California), Fidelia Chapman and Valeria Chapman; three brothers, Harold Chapman (California), James Chapman (Jim Jim}(Wilmington) and Charles Chapman; sister-in-law, JoAnn Chapman; two aunts, Sarah Briggs and Marion Cliffton; grandson, Tierre and a host of family and friends. He was a loving and caring father and brother. We call him 'The Traveler" he would catch the freight train at any time he wanted to leave town, and could jump right off in Newport and walk home.
