Obituary of Johnnie Moye

Johnnie Moye, Sr., son of the late Charlie P. Moye and Lula Bynum was born on August 24, 1926 in Green County, North Carolina. He departed this life on Saturday, December 30, 2006 in the Veterans Hospital. Johnnie received his education in the Greene County School District in North Carolina. He retired from the Wilmington Finishing Company after thirty years of service. Johnnie served his country in the United States Army 1929th Engineer Aviation Company as a Military Guard Patrolman. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Service Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Prior to entering the military service, Johnnie was employed on his father�(TM)s 40 acre farm devoted to diversified agriculture. Johnnie enjoyed spending time with his family and friends; he also enjoyed fishing, hunting and landscaping. Johnnie was preceded in death by his son, Johnnie Moye, Jr.; his daughter, Catherine Jefferson and his brother, Valle Ray Moye. He leaves to cherish his memories; his wife of fifty-nine years, Helen Moye; three sons, Charlie L. Moye, Carl P. Pitts and Wyman Thompson; five daughters, Carolyn Moye, Diane Moye, Constance Haywood, Tina Branch and J. Pitts; two brothers, Odell Parker and Snap Moye; two sisters-in-law, Louise Tinsley and Pearline Parker; one brother-in-law, Walter Tinsley; one daughter-in-law, Luvinia Moye; two sons-in-law, Joe Branch and Walter Haywood; thirteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
