Ronald Bleen

Obituary of Ronald Edward Bleen

A Time to be Born… Ronald (Ronnie) Edward Bleen, son of Lenford Freeman and Alberta Bleen was born September 5, 1936 in Townsend, Delaware. Ronnie was raised by his grandparents, James and Alverta Bleen, because his mother passed when he was just 2 years old. Ronnie was the youngest of five children. A Time to Learn… Ronnie received his education at New Discovery Elementary School, Townsend, DE and Louis L. Redding High School, Middletown, DE. A Time to Love…. He met Charlotte Tinch in the early 1950(TM)s and they started a lifetime relationship in 1956. They were joined in Holy Matrimony June 29, 1991. A Time to Live…. Ronnie joined Lee-Haven UMC (formerly Lee(TM)s Chapel) at an early age. He re-dedicated his life in 2002. For a brief period of time he was a member of Lee-Haven Mass Choir. He lived in Delaware all of his life. He was a dedicated employee of New Castle County for 35-1/2 years, working as a heavy equipment operator. In 1989 he was recognized by the County for 27 years of dedicated and safe service, because in 27 years he never loss a day of work due to an on-the-job injury. In 1991 he was honored by Premium Building Service, Inc. for his many years of dedicated service and contribution which was vital to the success and future of the organization. Throughout his years of work, New Castle County received numerous letters from individuals commenting on Ronnie(TM)s professionalism as he was doing County work on or near their properties. After retiring from the County, in 1997, he started Ronnie(TM)s Cleaning Service. Ronnie loved sports and was an avid baseball player in his day. Though not a carpenter by trade, many would say he was a Jack-of-all-Trades, because he enjoyed “fixing up” around the house (his and others). He also loved music and years ago played the piano. His favorite song was “I(TM)m No Ways Tired”. A Time to Die and be Remembered…. After a lengthy illness, our Master called Ronnie home on Sunday, September 17, 2006. In addition to his parents and grandparents, Ronnie was preceded in death by two brothers: Clarence and Lenford, Jr. He leaves to cherish his loving memory: a loving and devoted wife and friend, Charlotte Tinch Bleen; five sons, Tyrone Stafford, Perry Perkins, Ronnie Perkins, Gary Bleen, and Howard Bleen, all of DE, six daughters, Mary Perkins, Cheryl Perkins, Ursula Merkerison, Wanda Perkins, Shira Garnett, and Rhonda Bleen, all of DE.; thirty grandchildren, sixty great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, two sisters, Leana Henry (Joe) and Dorothy Butcher, both of DE.; Step-Mother-in-law, Elizabeth Williams; five brothers-in-law, Jeff Williams (Minnie) of S.C., Oakley Potts, Reginald Potts, Stephen Williams, Thaddeus Williams, all of DE; three sisters-in-law, Louise Henry, Elsie Nix (Frank), and Robeda Williams, all of DE., devoted cousins James Blackson, Mary Smith, and Carl Reed, devoted friends, Kenny Davis and Melvin Jefferson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
