Obituary of Oscar Rufus Moore

“Only one life, so live it well, and keep your candle trimmed and bright; Eternity, not time, will tell the radius of that candle�(TM)s light.” -Miller Oscar Rufus Moore “Mahdi” was born to the late Redell Matthews Long and the late Rufus Moore in Wilmington, Delaware on June 11, 1962 and departed this life on Saturday, September 9, 2006 at Wilmington Hospital. Oscar was a product of the Wilmington public school system, Oscar was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School class of 1981. After graduation Oscar served briefly in the United States Army and upon being honorably discharged he held various jobs. Oscar was baptized under the pastorate of Dr. Commodore S. Harris at First Faith Baptist Church in Chester, Pennsylvania. Recently Oscar had been fellowshipping with the Salvation Army in Wilmington. Oscar was united in marriage to Shirletta Moses on July 14, 1990 from this union three sons were born Lenair, Milton and Zaveon Moore. Additionally Oscar was the father of Shalynn Lowe and Isaiah Walker Moore. Oscar was preceded in death by his mother and father. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Shirletta; his children Shalynn, Lenair, Isaiah, Milton and Zaveon; his siblings Diane (Vincent) Whittaker, Ruth Moore and Andre Moore both of Wilmington, Rufus Moore (Francine) Moore of Atlanta, Georgia and Joshua Moore of Pango Pango, American Samoa, brother in law Anthony (Novella) Moses, sister in laws Nina Moses and Pastor Allegra Moses, two grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
